NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!! Stu, I have days like that all the time when I think it’s too time consuming; I bet most of us do.
I love your blog – you come up with some great ideas (some of which I am waiting to join in with!).
I really hope you don’t stop blogging – even if you cut down the amount of post or something?
thanks boof maybe will cut down a bit ,just had some self doubts ,but here to stay
Stu, you should only blog if there is something in it for you, and it is good to have a break sometimes.
But as to there being ‘better’ bloggers; I don’t think so! A good blog is one that draws you back, where the the blog owner is consistently courteous and considerate in respect of his commentors, where the content is regularly updated and diverse… Any of this sound familiar?
I love your reviews. They aren’t like anybody else’s and I value the difference. (And for the record, you are not the only one who questions the worth of their own blog!)
Hope you can find a way to make it work for you, but I would be sorry to lose your blog. Best wishes, Sarah
thanks sarah yes regonise what you say was a few self doubts in my self ,all the best stu
Aw, I hope you’ll stick around, Stu. Perhaps you could blog only 3-4 times a week? Make a limit for yourself so that it doesn’t become too overwhelming? That’s when I tend to do when life gets busy.
I don’t think there are “good” or “bad” bloggers. What I like about blogging is that each person offers their unique individual perspective on what they read.
thanks be sticking around ,all the best stu
Don’t be so bloody stupid man. We all have spells of doubt, loss of self belief and burnout (me especially). But you’ve just got to step off the gas, take a couple of days off and then come back stronger and more determined than ever.
As for your reviews not being good – bollocks! They’re succinct, honest, insightful and to the point – all the things that mine aren’t.
So reconsider. Take the rest of the week off even, and then I want to see you back here first thing Monday morning. K?
Rob
ok rob ,i may lighten load a bit stu ,thanks for support stu
aww stu! i really hope that you’ll consider slowing down or just blogging more casually instead of quitting altogether. you provide really unique reviews of many books that i’ve never seen anyone else read, so there’s definitely a place for you!
thanks stu
No Stu No. Again No. Please don’t stop blogging. You can take a break and you are allowed to scale back if that’s what you want and need. But don’t stop. I’m new to blogging and I’m soooo glad that you are around. Perhaps you don’t realize how unique you and your insights are. Well let me tell you, you are unique, your reading is very interesting and eclectic, and I love that . I also like your reviews. You don’t have to blog everyday as Rob said. But please stick around. My world of bloggers would be greatly diminished if you quit. I mean, look at your two ideas – the world cup of reading and the Don Quixote readalong. Wonderful ideas. Please who are these better bloggers that you refer to??? I count you among the ‘better bloggers’. Okay, I admit – I’m panicing now. STICK AROUND 🙂 Please!!!
thanks for your kind words kinna ,i don’t want let people done ,all the best stu
:O No! Don’t go!
Seriously though, I hope you stick around! You bring up so many great books that I’ve never heard of. I don’t think there is bad or good only individual – everyone has their own style and format which is good – I would hate if everyone wrote the same things or even same types of things! I love your style, and your books. You could always just post less often if it is taking up a lot of time?
thanks for your kind words ,stu
thanks for support ,been touched i m gone carry on maybe cut down a bit ,stuart -maybe was my own self doubt
Hi Stu, I know you’ve since posted and said you will be sticking around (yey!) but I just wanted to let you know I love your blogs and your book reviews.
I think you have a wonderful, innocent writing style because of its honesty and brevity. And some of your blog posts have been the most endearing and touching I have read (particularly loved the one when you discussed the story behind some of the books you owned – the ones your father bought you etc.)
You have a passion for books, and that comes across in your writing – I think that counts for an awful lot. Believe me, I read a lot of book reviews in my job and there is a lot to be said for someone who writes from the heart and doesn’t just write what he thinks people want to hear.
It sounds like you’ve had a couple of days of quiet reflection, and I’m so glad you are back.
Sarahx
many thanks for your kind words sarah
