I m not a fan of star 1 to 5 on books ,myself i tend to score things 4 or 5 myself on good reads because i see merit in most books even if i haven’t enjoyed them as much as i wished i had .So i had a radical idea for describing books that is using animals ,mad but if the book is lively and quick to read I’d say it was a cheetah ,slow but interesting maybe be a sloth ,epic but memorable would be an elephant ,for example what people think ?
How do you score your books ?
please note this was my idea !

Heh, too funny! I use the 1-5 star system myself, I’m way old school apparently. Love the idea though 🙂
am just to postive to objective on 1-5 lol ,all the best stu
haha, I love it! Very original, and sounds fun.
thanks emily all the best stu
Hi Stu, I stopped by on the book blog hop. I’ve been following for a short time, but was lurking for a while…I enjoy your unique take on things, such as your interesting animal rating system idea! All the best, a loyal reader.
thanks for your first comment ,i been looking at yours too after seeing you on other blogs ,all the best stu
Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I used 0-5 rating, but books can get half-points. Sometimes that doesn’t even work and I have to stop myself giving a book 2.75! Haha
thanks your welcome ,i just can’t be objective on 1 – 5 wanted something more subjective ,all the best stu
Haha LOVE the idea- very original! I don’t score books but perhaps I’ll start now that we have a new scoring system 🙂
thanks lua ,wanted something to be subjective a little more to treflect the book as a whole ,all the best stu
Sounds like a fun idea, it’s certainly more original than the basic 1-5 stars rating system.
thanks iris ,yes going be fun way and different ,all the best stu
I love it! You can get across so much more by using an animal. I hope you don’t find too many slugs in your TBR pile 🙂
thanks jackie yes seemed be a subjective way of getting acccross the feel of a book quickly ,all the best stu
Aw! Love it!
thanks rhiana ,all the best stu
I adore off-the-wall out-of-the-box thinking Stu, and this is so far out of the box it’s in another continent. Love it!
Hope you work it out
Warmest
Rob
thanks rob seems a subjective way of getting over the feel of a book ,all the best stu
This is such an original idea – I love it! I used to give books 1-5 star ratings, but stopped because it just wasn’t working for me. Now I don’t use a rating system at all, but I have two categories called Recommended and Highly Recommended for books that I particularly enjoyed. Your animal idea is better, though. 🙂
thanks for your first comment and yes seems a different way ,all the best stu
Just hopping by – hop on over to The Wormhole!
Happy Reading – have a great weekend!
I love the scoring idea – I don’t score books because I don’t like the scale thing – I might use your idea! Thanks
thanks for hoping over ,all the best stu
Hopping by to dsay hello! I am boring and use the /5 rating system but I am rethinking this now!
And the plot thickens…
thanks rachel for hopping by ,all the best stu
That would be really fun! I use 1 to 10, and still often use 0.5 (usually 9.5 for those I really loved but didn’t think perfect). Although these ratings only go in my notebook, as goodreads and Shelfari have 1 to 5 only, and no 0.5!
yes want a different approach claire this seems a goos idea as can be subjective ,all the best stu
Hello, just wanted to say that I love your scoring theme! Such a great idea! And great blog too. Although I find my reading taste is more British/US/Japan-centric, I would love to read more globally and your choice of reading has opened my eyes to the huge variety of titles available in English. So thank you!
thanks and I m always here about new Japanese writers via you ,yes more subjective scoring ,all the best stu
