A conversation earlier inspired by Amy reads visit to the US book blogger conference ,lead to some laments that us uk blogger appear not to have such a wonderful event with panels and chance to flesh out so to speak who we are ,now I m not volunteering myself to organise this but would help if people are interested ,If some one has experience in organizing events for people or companies would be great ,any ideas welcome also borrowing post for your blog get people interested in it also where and time of year ,this is post get interest up and hopefully start a ball rolling to lead to bigger things ,all the best stu .

Put me down as a helper. First issue would be location. Then you’ll get to see where in that location it can be held.
If you build it, they will come (very cheesy, I know).

Such a great idea! I agree with Mar, first issue is Location – where where where? Do you have any major publisher convention that you could go after like the US Book Blogger Convention did with Book Expo America?

Thanks for posting Stu. I’d be willing to help, but I have no organisation skills (I could learn, but I couldn’t be the main organiser).
Location seems the most important: I’d say anywhere in the UK would work best because there are more UK bloggers than from any other European countries.
I have no clue about UK literary/publisher festivals though.

Hmmm… if we were feeling daring we could attempt to attach ourselves to the Hay on Wye festival? That should surely make people want to come!

Funny, but this doesn’t really appeal all that much to me. I think its to do with the business of life, and competing priorities. What frightens me slightly is the sheer number of book bloggers out there – I might come away feeling totally insignificant!

I will voluteer to help organise too – I love organising!!! I work in corporate acquisitions so spend my life presenting and organising meetings and events etc.

I’m in! I love the idea of attaching it to some other big book event. Hay is wonderful, but it could be awkward for people to get to? I’m happy for it to be anywhere but Hay can be very expensive for accomodation etc during Hay festival – especially if people don’t book in advance. I wonder if London is a better location – attaching it to the London Book Fair might be better, as publishers will all be there anyway?

I like the idea. I think a small group of bloggers got together in London in May but just informally — I’m not sure. Anyway, I’m not an organiser by any stretch of the imagination, but I could certainly consider attending something even if it was just an informal gathering.
