HOW WAS YOUR SEPTEMBER ?
WHAT PLANS YOU GOT FOR OCTOBER ?

I have yet to look at my September reading but as I started my American reading project I think most of the books I read would be for that. I did start War & Peace though and am just about to start Madame Bovary which sparked my education on how important translation is (I just assumed that a book was translated word for word and then your done)
yes translation is a real art ,when done well shines when done badly can let a great book down ,all thje best stu
Impressive (and varied) amount of reads, Stu–lucky you! I hope to read Buzzati’s The Tartar Steppes and something by Levy next year, but I’ll be starting October out with César Aira, Mishima and Sebald titles I’ve been wanting to read all of this year. Hard to squeeze everything in! Glad you and I will be doing a readalong or two this month as well–I feel a great affinity for your blog. Bon week-end!
aira is one I have to buy my library hasn’t it in stock ,love sebald can’t wait to his new stuff published next year ,i like your blog to richard and am enjoying joining in readalongs with you guys ,all the best stu
I was overwhelmed by events in September – holiday and huge technical problems (now solved, but at great expense of time). I’m just waiting to get into October now. I regret I’ve dropped out of the DQ read – I left it for a couple of weeks and now I can’t get back into it
sorry to hear that I ve dropped a bit behind hope catch up over weekend ,hope you manage to read it at some point ,all the best stu
14! Whoa. I read 6 books last month, but 3 of them are quite short really (under 100 pages). I hope to finish Don Q this month too. And then some.
I ve had lot night shifts this month so got to reade more than normal, all the best stu
14 books, and such diverse books as well 🙂 It looks like you had a great month. I hope October will be more of the same for you..
me too Iris ,all the best stu
Wow, great list of books read Stu. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on more of them 🙂
thanks amy ,coming soon ,all the best stu
Wow! 100 books! That is amazing. I don’t know that I’ll ever read that many in a year. I’m such a slow reader. Well done, Stu!
You’re also finishing Don Quixote! I so admire that you read so broadly and so cerebral-y…that’s not a word I know, but it fits. I can only do a couple of those a year–otherwise, I get antsy and start watching more TV so the literary blogging people I definitely admire. Well done. Can’t wait to see how the end of the year goes for you!
Thanks Carin ,should be some more from round world to come before end of year ,the readalong helps with the large classics ,all the best stu
Ahh..didn’t realise you’d FINISHED the Ben Greenman collection Stu. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I’m stalled on the first story (which is not a reflection of whether I like the book or not, I’m just juggling too many hot irons).
Anyway, congrats on the monthly total Stu, but even bigger applause on getting to that hundredth title. You can relax for the rest of the year now (I bet you don’t! :))
Warmest
Rob

I love that cover of Coconut Unlimited, it’s very eye-catching.
My September wasn’t very good, reading wise; it was a really busy month. I definitely plan on catching up in October! Even if I do I won’t get to 100 titles like you did; I feel like I’m such a slow reader :-)!
It is a lovely cover very fitting for the bookm which I loved ,all the best stu
14 books in a month is a great feat! Congratulations!
