Well Halloween is here and I m reading my first ghost story for a long while ,not huge horror and Ghost story fan . what are your favourites ?
Mine is hound of the baskervilles not really horror but scary in places.
This time of year means Parkin – a local cake gingery ,treacly and with some oats in .
wonderful with a hot drink on a cold night .
so what plans have you tomorrow ?

i am still sewing a costume for my niece. I’ll probably be at home giving out the treats.

Now that hound happens to be my favorite too but tomorrow I think I will take up the new Susan Hill for Halloween – The Small Hand. Happy holiday!

Haha I was looking at this the other night. Most clips of Mark E. Smith tend to be scary.

I don’t think scary stories are really my thing, although I like a bit of Edgar Allen Poe. But I am excited by the reference to Michelle Paver. I (and my children!) love her kids’ books, but I never tried an adult one. Shall definitely give it a go.

I enjoyed The Small Hand but nothing has since matched The Woman in Black 🙁 I also read some M R James ghost stories for the first time this month – great suspense but I suspect they would be better read aloud. I’m just glad Halloween is over and I can take down the homemade decorations, forget about thinking up costumes for another year and now think about Christmas!! Help 😉
