Maclehose is five years old lets celebrate by reading their books

The Maclehose Press  is five week 20th – 27th January 2012

Maclehose Press is five years old this year .Christopher Maclehose set the press up after he left Harvil when they were sold to random house .Together with his wife he has brought us a wonderful  mix of well-known writers from the world many of those in translation , established names  Cees Nooteboom to  newer names Marie N’diaye ,many of which have won the big prizes around the world .Here is an interview from the guardian with Christopher Maclehose about setting up Maclehose press and how they choose books . To find a book you may like here is a link to their web site which is really easy to get round .So at the end of this month 21-25 January they will spend time celebrating their five wonderful years and hopefully to many more .so I ask you to join me and  post a review of one or more of their books .sign in here  I’ve add the custom WordPress form .

  1. HI Stu, thanks for the link. I checked their catalogue and picked Tiny Sunbirds Far Away. Have bought an e version and will try and get it read and reviewed in time.

  2. I signed up for the mailing list. The site is a bit of a bugger to negotiate. I bought SPIES after your review as I have read other wonderful books by that author

  3. I’ve been lucky enough to get a fair few review copies from them over the past couple of months, so I’m sure I’ll be reviewing some before too long (probably not until Feb though).

Of course, after my ‘Accabadora’ review, that flow of ARCs will probably start to dry up 😉

  4. Yes, I’m in too, as long as the Book Depository deliver it on time. (They’re usually pretty good). The Maclehose site is awful, I really wanted to choose a book in translation by an African writer but there’s no way to search for that except to go through the whole catalogue. So I settled for Monsieur Linh and His Child by Philippe Claudel, which looks quite interesting.

    1. Well I hope they may e read the comments here if I see either of the pr I know from them I’ll mention site navigation to them great choice I m just reading Claudel latest book all the best stu
