Well it’s been a quiet week for books at winston towers .But. the one that did arrived looks rather good with a rather bright cover .This should be written in the present tense by Helle Helle is the story of Dorte a young women in Copenhagen that is sleepless lonely and really should be seeing to her studies as a student buy she is being a bit reckless .One of the quotes describes her writing as taking a humdrum life and giving it the kind of obsession normally reserved for thrillers .Helle Helle has won most of the major prizes in Danish literature including a lifetime award from the Danish arts Council ,her books have been translated into thirteen languages before this is her first book to be translated to English .What books did you get book wise this week ?

I bought a couple of Hilary Mantel’s backlist novels. I’m not interested in Wolf Hall.
I didn’t like wolf hall only one by her I’ve read but couple the older d titles
I picked up What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt and Only Say the Word by Niall Williams, both new-to-me authors that I have heard good things about.
Not read Hustvedt yet
I got ‘Indian Summer’ by Adalbert Stifter from the library; it’s a thick book but I’m looking forward to starting it.
That looks a great read note it for German lit month thanks jonathan
Yes, I’m in two minds whether to save it for German Lit month.
Far too many, I’m afraid. But of particular foreign literature interest: the collected noir novels of Manchette and an intriguing translation of a Finnish novelist: Katri Lipson – The Ice Cream Man.
I picked up a book of short stories ‘Book of Gaza’ which I’ll start on Tube into work.
The Helle Helle sounds interesting, lovely cover too. I bought a couple of books from the new Foyles: Things Look Different in the Light by Medardo Fraile (which I’ve been coveting since Spanish Lit month) and the new Ali Smith.
